UK Ring Sizing: How to Choose a Comfortable Fit

A ring should feel secure and comfortable on the finger you plan to wear it on. Before buying a handmade ring online, check both the UK size and the shape of the band. A familiar letter size is a starting point, but a wide band can feel different from a narrow one.

Understanding UK ring sizes

UK ring sizes use letters, sometimes with half sizes. Other countries use different systems, so do not assume that a number on an overseas chart is a UK size. Use our size guides and check the size information on the specific product before ordering.

Start with the right finger

Measure the finger and hand where you will wear the ring. A ring that fits one finger may not fit another, and the same finger on your other hand can differ. If you already have a comfortable ring for that finger, use it as a comparison and tell us whether it has a narrow or wide band.

Check comfort as well as size

The ring should pass over the knuckle with a little resistance and sit comfortably without pinching. Measure when your hands are at a normal, comfortable temperature. If your fit changes during the day, repeat the check rather than relying on one measurement.

For a wide band or a design you have not worn before, an in-person fitting is the safest way to judge comfort. Paper, string and screen-based charts can give an estimate, but they are easier to misread than a proper ring sizer.

Buying a handmade or gemstone ring

Check the size option attached to the exact ring you are buying. Do not assume every design is adjustable or can be resized: the setting, metal and stone can affect what is possible. Ask us about the individual piece before ordering if you are between sizes.
